Bé, segueixo incorporant part del material que vaig preparant per a la tesi... com sempre he de dir, que no es definitiu i tal... o sia que si el contingut no es bo es que soc dolent i prou ;-)

Coneixement Lliure

S’entén per Continguts Lliures o Continguts Oberts (Open Content) aquells que son compartits sota les llicencies desenvolupades per Creative Commons (CC) . Aquestes llicencies permeten, sota determinades condicions, la distribució de qualsevol tipus de creació digitals. Algunes llicencies permeten la modificació dels continguts per a crear obres derivades. Així doncs entendrem per Continguts Oberts o Continguts Lliures aquells permeten l’accés universal i la creació d’obres derivades.

Suposem que un autor escriu un tractat sobre l’imperi Romà i el publica amb llicencia CC. Un professor d’institut por elaborar una versió resumida del tractat (a base d’anar retallant i enganxant), ampliar-lo amb continguts propis o d’altres fonts com Wikipedia i fins hi tot enriquir-lo amb fotografíes de runes romanes publicades a la Web, sempre que citi els autors originals de les fonts usades el nostre professor hipotètic pot compartir legalment els seu treballs derivats.

En canvi, fer quelcom així amb llibres de text publicats amb copyrigth és il•legal. Generalment la il•legalitat del preparar apunts a partir de continguts amb copyrigth no atura els professors amb empenta, però aquests treballs fets pels professors sols es podran usar dins l’entorn de les aules dels seus autors furtius.

Els continguts lliures propicien l’aparició de nous continguts, de nou coneixement, de noves versions i formes d’interpretar un tema. En definitiva son una eina que enriqueix la societat general. Son una eina que estimula la creació de coneixement. El moviment Free Culture o Open Culture és un moviment paral•lel al del programari lliure aplicat a tot tipus de contingut.

The mission of the Free Culture movement is to build a bottom-up, participatory structure to society and culture, rather than a top-down, closed, proprietary structure. Through the democratizing power of digital technology and the Internet, we can place the tools of creation and distribution, communication and collaboration, teaching and learning into the hands of the common person -- and with a truly active, connected, informed citizenry, injustice and oppression will slowly but surely vanish from the earth.

El moviment Free Culture reclama la naturalesa participativa dels bens culturals, on hom és receptor i creador de bens culturals (continguts); i rebutja una cultura imposada per la industria.

We believe that culture should be a two-way affair, about participation, not merely consumption. We will not be content to sit passively at the end of a one-way media tube (…) The freedom to build upon the past is necessary for creativity and innovation to thrive. We will use and promote our cultural heritage in the public domain. We will make, share, adapt, and promote open content. We will listen to free music, look at free art, watch free film, and read free books. All the while, we will contribute, discuss, annotate, critique, improve, improvise, remix, mutate, and add yet more ingredients into the free culture soup.

La societat de la informació i les TIC son l’escenari i el cavall de batalla per desenvolupar aquesta cultura lliure.
With the Internet and other advances, the technology exists for a new paradigm of creation, one where anyone can be an artist, and anyone can succeed, based not on their industry connections, but on their merit.

El moviment Free Culture no descarta la “alliberació de continguts”, o pirateig, donat que no accepta la legislació actual i les arquitectures de control (Digital Rigths Management) que impedeixen l’accés lliure a la cultura.

We won't allow the content industry to cling to obsolete modes of distribution through bad legislation. …. If we allow the bottom-up, participatory structure of the Internet to be twisted into a glorified cable TV service (…) then the window of opportunity opened by the Internet will have been closed, and we will have lost something beautiful, revolutionary, and irretrievable.


Quan es parla de Coneixement Lliure o Coneixement Obert (Free Knowledge / Open Knowledge) es sol fer referència a la utilització de Continguts Lliures per a finalitats educatives.
